April 17, 2026
Dear TBHS Community,
Happy April Break! Whether you’re traveling, staying home, or tackling the gardens, I hope that next week is both relaxing and energizing for you all.
On Wednesday evening, the World Language Department hosted the induction ceremony for new members of The Société Honoraire de Français (SHF) and the Sociedad Honoraria Hispánica (SHH) at the Bromfield Library. Guided by the motto, “L’homme qui sait deux langues en vaut deux / El que habla dos idiomas vale por dos,” the ceremony featured traditional elements such as candle lighting and the passing of the torch. Student officers leading the event included Khivi Nanra, Ellie Pulido, and Caroline Yang from SHH, as well as Uma Samsi, Adelle Besse, and Eleanor Daly from SHF. Faculty members Profe Galicia and Profe Millard were also present to support the students. Last night the GCC shared their Capstone presentations with a past, present, and future structure to reflect on their learning.
Department Leaders met yesterday afternoon to reflect on the School Improvement Plan and begin to identify next steps. We also discussed technology in the classroom and sections for next year. Speaking of Department Leaders, please join me in congratulating, PE & Health Department Leader, Katelyn Russel who is a co-author in this paper, just published in the Journal of School Health, for some of the work she did with the UVM WIN team. Bravo, Katelyn!
We are excited about the strong potential of improvements at Bromfield over the summer (pending approval at Town Meeting). This includes redoing the stairs outside the side entrance, finishing the flooring across the school, new lockers, a new eco dishwasher, and new auditorium seats. Fingers crossed!
Have a wonderful break!
Best,
Kim

The online application for SUN Bucks (formerly Summer EBT) is now open. This federal food benefit program provides a $120 lump-sum summer benefit per school-aged child for income-eligible families. SUN Bucks income eligibility standards are the same as the National School Lunch Program (NSLP)—all enrolled students identified as meeting the income eligibility standards for free or reduced-price lunch during school year 2025-26, either through an NSLP household paper application or direct certification, are automatically eligible for SUN Bucks. Students identified as homeless, migrant, runaway, or participating in Head Start are also automatically eligible. The program is administered by the state Department of Transitional Assistance (DTA) in partnership with DESE with assistance from schools. Find details and learn how to apply on the SUN Bucks website.
