Dear Sophomores, Juniors, and Parent/Guardians,
We hope your school year is off to a great start! We are happy to announce that this year the PSAT is being offered digitally to all sophomores and juniors during the school day on Wednesday, October 18th.
We encourage all sophomores and juniors to take the PSAT/NMSQT. The digital test is shorter, has more time per question, and comes with a built-in calculator. PSAT/NMSQT scores can be useful in several ways. It gives students valuable practice for the SAT and insight into how to prepare, and it opens opportunities for scholarships and recognition. Juniors may qualify for the National Merit Scholarship Program based on their PSAT scores.
Here is a link to the Official Student Guide to the PSAT/NMSQT, which is an all-encompassing guide to the PSAT. We encourage students to take some time to review the information as it contains helpful tips about the new digital exam, how to best prepare, and what to expect on test day. It also covers information on Bluebook, which is the custom-built application students will use to take the digital PSAT/NMSQT. This application will be pushed out to students’ MacBooks soon. As the test date approchoaches we will be in touch with students and families with specific instructions regarding the digital exam.
The fee for the exam is $25.00. Students need to register and pay for the exam on Total Registration’s site at PSAT/NMSQT Exam Registration. We recommend that both the student and parent be present while registering to ensure that all items are completed correctly. It will be helpful to have your payment method available during the registration process. You may pay with a credit or debit card or send in a check.
Online registration begins today, September 15th, 2023. Regular registration will continue through Friday, September 29th. Late registration will begin on Saturday, September 30th and end on Friday, October 6th. During late registration, a $5 late fee will be assessed, so please register as soon as possible.
To complete registration, students must answer all of the required questions on Total Registration’s site. Registration is not complete until students have printed the PDF of the confirmation page that is provided at the end of the process. They should keep this confirmation page for their records. The payment options include credit, debit or check (which is mailed in to Total Registration with payment stub that must be downloaded and printed). Any check or payment that is not received by 11:59 PM, Monday, Oct 9th, 2023 will result in the exam being cancelled. Refunds will only be issued for cancelled registrations up to October 10th unless there are extenuating circumstances.
