Friday Memo | September 19, 2025

September 19, 2025

Dear TBHS Community,

Last night was Curriculum Night at TBHS. We started in the library with an optional Principal’s Talk. Families were greeted by Bromfield Strings (Thank you Mr Burokas and students!) playing in the lobby as they made sense of their students schedules and visited each class. Thank you to the Harvard Schools Trust for setting up in the lobby and thank you to everyone who helped make the night special.

Yesterday, I also had the opportunity to go to the boy’s varsity soccer game before Curriculum Night against Lunenburg. Congratulations team!

Wednesday Night (9/24), counselors are hosting an overview of the college application process for families of current seniors at 6pm in the library (more information below!). Our first School Council meeting is next week on Thursday and school pictures are on Friday!

Best,

Kim

Star Party!
In partnership with the Amateur Telescope Makers of Boston (ATMOB), the Science National Honor Society (SNHS) is hosting the annual Star Party on Thursday October 2nd at 7:00 PM. This is a chance to look at the stars and galaxies close up through a scientific telescope.   This event is weather dependent; if there is a cancellation due to weather, we will send out a notification on Tuesday September 30th.

Food and drinks will be provided.

For students in grades 6 & 7, and below, at least one parent or guardian must attend per household. Siblings are encouraged to attend as well!
Please RSVP by Monday 9/29 if you are planning to attend this year's event. This will help us to organize sufficient materials for everyone interested. Thanks!

Community Annoucements

Town Meeting

September 27th, 12pm

Mark your calendars and plan on attending Town Meeting on Saturday, September 27th at 12PM. Town Meeting is your chance to vote on a range of items that impact the town. As you may know, you have to be there in-person to vote, and warrant items are often decided right there in the meeting.

Learn more about Article 4 - a vote for the purchase of land for recreational use, primarily youth sports - by watching this recent public forum. You can also read a full warrant for the meeting on the town website.

PLEASE TAKE 2 MINUTES TO HELP US IMPROVE CELLULAR SERVICE IN HARVARD!

The Town Administration is working to improve cellular network coverage throughout Harvard to ensure broader, more reliable 911 access, and to enhance the effectiveness of all cellular communications and applications.  Documented issues of poor coverage and dropped calls incentivize providers to expand coverage, so please participate in a simple 8-question anonymous survey about the quality of (or lack of) cellular service coverage at your home.

Survey results will be shared publicly with residents and with carriers to encourage equipment investments on existing towers and to attract carriers to the new cellular tower being built behind the Hildreth House.  The more responses the better! Please reply by October 15th

Moonlight hike – October 4, 7 p.m.

The Harvard Conservation Trust invites your family and friends to a Moonlight Hike on Saturday, October 4, 2025 at 7:00 p.m.

Guided by naturalist Dr. Bob Douglas, you’ll embark on a journey through the woods just as the nocturnal world awakens. You’ll learn about the mysterious lives of forest creatures—and hear eerie and fascinating stories about the animals that come alive after dark. Bring a headlight or flashlight, bugspray, and wear sturdy shoes.

After the hike, we’ll gather around a warm fire and enjoy some light refreshments.
