Friday Memo |  September 5, 2025

Dear TBHS Community,

Happy September! We had a great week this week with beautiful weather that allowed plenty of sunshine during lunches, practices, and games outside. We are gearing up for our first full week of school and it will be busy.

On Wednesday, September 10th, Sandy Hook Promise is coming to present to High School students during Flex their “Start With Hello” programming. Here is more information.

Who is Sandy Hook Promise?

Sandy Hook Promise is a national nonprofit organization founded and led by several family members whose loved ones were killed at Sandy Hook Elementary School on December 14, 2012.  Their mission is “to educate and empower youth and adults to prevent violence in schools, homes, and communities.”

What is Starts with Hello

A training program that empowers students to reduce social isolation and strengthen school communities by teaching practical strategies for building peer relationships.

How does this happen?

A kick-off assembly, lessons and activities in Flex, and student organizations.

Why bring it to Bromfield?

  • Sandy Hook Promise was brought to our attention by a Harvard resident and parent of alumni.

  • The mission and goals align with our district/school vision of a sense of belonging.

  • Our belonging survey and the Youth Risk Behavior Survey indicate some room for improvement in this area.

Thinking ahead, we have the TBHS Curriculum Night on September 18th from 6pm-7:30pm. You will be following your student’s schedule and meeting their educators in their different classrooms. More information coming soon!

Also to note (and book haircuts as needed ha!), school pictures are on Friday, September 26th!

Of course, these are only a snapshot of the range of academic, social, and emotional learning happening at TBS!

Please let us know if you have any questions! Below you will find upcoming dates and school/community events.

Best,

Kim

COMMUNITY NEWS AND EVENTS

PLEASE TAKE 2 MINUTES TO HELP US IMPROVE CELLULAR SERVICE IN HARVARD!

The Town Administration is working to improve cellular network coverage throughout Harvard to ensure broader, more reliable 911 access, and to enhance the effectiveness of all cellular communications and applications.  Documented issues of poor coverage and dropped calls incentivize providers to expand coverage, so please participate in a simple 8-question anonymous survey about the quality of (or lack of) cellular service coverage at your home.

Survey results will be shared publicly with residents and with carriers to encourage equipment investments on existing towers and to attract carriers to the new cellular tower being built behind the Hildreth House.  The more responses the better! Please reply by October 15th

Please click https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/FCPWYJ2 to take the survey!

Adventure Awaits with Harvard Boy Scouts!

Do you like adventure and exploring the outdoors with friends?  Harvard  Boy Scouts Troop 1 (boys) and Troop 7001 (girls) program provides all that and more. It builds character, leadership, and lifelong skills while encouraging kids to challenge themselves, make new friends, and have fun. The troop plans weekend trips throughout the year including skiing, hiking, camping, kayaking and more.

Our upcoming calendar is packed with incredible trips, including a challenging hike up Mt. Washington (Sep 12-14), an outdoor adventure at the New England Outdoor Center (Oct 24-26), and a historical exploration of Mystic Seaport (Dec 12-14).

Its the perfect time to join and see what scouting is all about! The troop meets every Monday at 7pm, and you are invited to attend a meeting and try it out for free. For more information, please contact Gary Madison at gmadison@hobbsmadison.com or 978-502-3468  or visit our website at https://troop1harvard.net/.
