Friday Memo |  January 31, 2025

Dear TBHS Community,

It’s hard to believe it’s just about February! We are in full swing of Semester 2 and in the beginning stages of scheduling for next year. Department leaders, Sara Lamere, and Julie Horton visited Flexes this week to conduct the preliminary phase of scheduling: “Elective Selection.” This will help us ensure we are offering the electives that students want to take as we move towards sectioning. This additional step in the schedule process is a practical and technical way to honor student voice and choice.

As quarter 2 has ended, we continue to examine student attendance. We will be sending out letters to families for students who have missed ten or more of any one class. As absences accrue, excused or unexcused, it becomes harder and harder for students to “keep up” which can lead to anxiety and sometimes avoidance. To better communicate with families, we will be auto contacting families via ParentSquare with their student’s attendance for the day. We are ironing out the details pertinent to a high school schedule, and we'll let folks know when that will go into effect.

Yesterday, today, and tomorrow, Bromfield Model UN students are in Boston participating in the Harvard Model UN Conference. We are wishing them luck and enjoyment. I can’t wait to hear all about it on Monday.

Of course, these are only a snapshot of the range of academic, social, and emotional learning happening at TBS!

Please let us know if you have any questions! Below you will find upcoming dates and school/community events

Best,

Kim
