Friday Memo | December 6, 2024

Dear TBHS Community,

Happy December! I hope your Thanksgiving was great and you’re warm and cozy now that winter seems to have truly arrived. I know many of you were welcoming students home from college for the break or traveling. As parents of college kids, we had all the children home under one roof and it was delightful to have the house full. We even managed to have their help transitioning decorations from Autumn to Winter!

December is a sprint from the Thanksgiving break until the December break. It is a busy time, this week we had our faculty meeting on Tuesday. Next week we have a ½ day and progress reports on Wednesday (12/11) and School Council on Thursday (12/12). Looking to the next week we have a Social Studies/ELA Departments sponsored staff breakfast on Monday (12/16) and School Committee in the evening, the TBHS Winter Concert on Wednesday (12/18) and ½ Day on Friday (12/20). Then we are on break until the new year (return 1/2/25).

Classes are busy as we try to wrap up units in advance of the break. Flex time will be used to encourage students to get themselves ready for a true break!

We had a new format for conferences before break. Families, please consider taking this survey to give us your feedback! Thank you!

Of course, these are only a snapshot of the range of academic, social, and emotional learning happening at TBS!

Please let us know if you have any questions! Below you will find upcoming dates and school/community events.

Bromfield Cares:
Bromfield Cares is looking for donations of gifts to collect for the Giving Tree that will be given to children who might not otherwise have holiday presents. You can sign up for a gift by scanning the QR codes posted around the school, buy the gift, label it and drop it off in the donation boxes in the front office. Additionally, family members can order a gift and have it shipped to the school, or make out a check to the Bromfield School for the Giving Tree.

Project 351:
Dear Bromfield High School Families,

Though next Friday, December 13, Project 351 is proudly hosting its annual food drive.  Please donate and continue to spread the word.  Information is here:
  • Why?  The competition is led by middle school students and immediately helps our friends and neighbors.
  • We stand on your shoulders.  Without the support of your students, who led the drive in eighth grade, we would not have this important school tradition.  Thank you!
  • Our motto is that a lot of littles add up to a lot.  No donation is too big or too small.
  • We have been very successful in gathering donations to send to Loaves & Fishes in past years, with 1,795.5 pounds donated last year.
Many families need food for the holidays right now.   Please donate food and personal care items -- all contributions will go directly to families in Harvard, Devens, Ayer, Shirley, Groton, Dunstable, and Littleton. Donation boxes are located throughout Bromfield (including the main office), Hildreth, and the Harvard Public Library.   If you have any questions, please contact Project 351 Club Advisor chodgens@psharvard.org

Please donate by next Friday and spread the word so that we can help as many people as possible. Thank you so much!
Sincerely,
Project 351 Club
