Friday Memo, September 6, 2024

Dear TBHS Community,

We are in the full swing of things now! During Flex this week, Dr Horton and I had the opportunity to hold class meetings for each of the grades. We welcomed students back to school and went over important people to know, what to expect in Flex, and hopes for our community. Here in Harvard Public Schools, we have a vision of a community where everyone can find belonging. We all have a responsibility to help make that vision more of a reality! Seniors will have their first Post-Secondary Planning (PSP) next week during Flex.

Save the date: TBS Open House, 9/19/24 5pm-7pm. Department Leaders met with Dr Horton and me to work through the some of the details for an improved Open House for this year. We want to warmly welcome families and caregivers to school to meet faculty and staff, see different spaces, learn more about courses that we offer, learn more about clubs and activities, and be in community together. To better do that, we will be gathering by department rather than in individual classrooms. Additionally, we are planning a club fair to be held in the cafeteria. We invite families to walk around, meet folks (or say hello to people!), and be in community together. This will be a chance to learn more about what we offer and who we all are. We will also be offering student-led tours of the building. More details about logistics will be sent out in a separate email. For more specific conversations about individual student progress, we urge you to make an appointment during Parent-Teacher Conferences, or reach out directly to the educator to make a connection. Please note that Mr. Hudder and I are collaborating to ensure that families who have students 6-12 will be able to meet the people they want to meet! We look forward to sharing the evening with you.

Seniors are off on a class trip to NYC and UMass Amherst next week, we hope they have a great time and represent Bromfield well! Other important upcoming dates are Picture Day on 9/20 and the first TBHS dance is 10/18 to mark on your calendars.
